Quick facts
- Pricing: US logged-out reference prices from canva.com/pricing: Free US$0; Pro US$18/mo or US$144/yr (one person only); Business US$25/mo per person or US$250/yr per person; Enterprise has no public price. The pricing page states prices exclude applicable tax and the tax-inclusive total is shown before purchase confirmation. Logged-in prices not verified.
- Best for: Solo creators, social media managers and small teams who need lots of templated social, video, presentation and print content with AI inside one editor.
- Website: www.canva.com
What it does well
- The free tier is genuinely usable: US$0 with 1.6M+ templates, 5GB storage and up to 20 Standard or Premium AI uses a month
- On paid plans, Standard AI tools (Magic Write, Translate and similar) do not count toward the monthly AI allowance, so everyday AI edits do not eat the capped budget
- The AI Product Terms (26 June 2026) state you own your AI output and can use it for any lawful purpose — the one exception is output built on Canva library content
- Everything happens in one editor: Pro adds social scheduling, 3.6M+ templates and 141M+ premium assets; Business adds 100 Brand Kits with approvals plus Flourish
Where it falls short
- Heavy generative use is capped — Pro is estimated at up to 200 Premium or 20 Ultra AI uses a month and complex tasks consume more; trials get only the Free allowance. The official top-up route is AI Pass at US$100 per person per month, or a plan upgrade
- The Content License limits creators who sell: Pro content is licensed for use in a single design, cannot be redistributed on its own, cannot be part of a trademark or business name, and cannot be used standalone on print-on-demand products
- AI terms carry caveats — outputs may not be unique, you do not own AI edits of Canva library photos, and usage limits are 'operational controls and not fixed entitlements' Canva can change
- Pro is for one user only; AI Pass cannot be bought on trials, prepaid plans, App Store or Google Play subscriptions, or in the mobile app; AI top-ups are Business-only and no price is stated
Verdict
A strong default for creators who need lots of templated social, video and presentation assets fast, with AI built into the editor. Before you pay, check two things: the monthly AI allowance (Pro is estimated at up to 200 Premium or 20 Ultra uses) and the Content License limits on trademarks, merch and standalone use. Prices are US logged-out reference prices that exclude tax; logged-in prices were not verified.
What our judgement is based on
Based only on Canva's own pages, fetched logged out on 2026-10-11: the pricing page (rendered in a headless browser for both monthly and yearly; US, USD), three help articles, the homepage, the AI Product Terms (26 June 2026), the Terms of Use (19 August 2026) and the Content License Agreement. No hands-on testing, so the rating is null. The top 3 search results were compared in full text: techsifted.com (2026-04-04) and tavereviews.com (2026-03-03).
